The Jesuit Vision of Education

Jesuit Education is inspired by the vision received from the life and teaching of Jesus Christ who has always been respected and admired by the people of India. It is also based on the principles and character formation elaborated by Ignatius of Loyola. This vision and these principles give the Jesuit education a specific character and set before their staff and students high ideals of humanism and service towards which they are invited continually to strive. Hence Jesuit Vision of Education goes far beyond the achievement of academic excellence. It includes radical change of heart in the person of the educated and the educator him/herself turning them from selfish concerns to unreserved generosity to God and their fellow human beings. For a Christian, this would imply a personal commitment to Jesus Christ in whom he/she will find the source and inspiration of this generosity. Our education is therefore, aimed at this inner liberation of spirit, which prepared a person for even greater service, makes him/her truly free, mature and capable of assuming whatever responsibility each one is called to. Only such an education can create fully committed men and woman who can face the challenges of our times.
